The problem

It turned out I wasn't alone.

Independent labs kept finding the same thing across the creatine market: products, especially gummies, containing a fraction of the creatine on the label.

We have not commissioned testing of other brands ourselves. The findings above come from the independent third-party sources linked. CR8's own certificate of analysis is published on this site.

The story

Why I made CR8.

I've taken creatine for years. Eighteen months ago, independent lab tests started exposing creatine products that contained a fraction of what their labels promised, some with none at all. The brand sitting in my cupboard appeared in those published results.

That sent me down a rabbit hole. The UK supplement space is far less regulated than most people assume. It is entirely possible to sell a product that doesn't contain what it advertises.

I looked at making gummies first, but I couldn't find a single manufacturer I trusted to deliver the creatine as advertised. And the chemistry is against them: creatine degrades in moist, acidic formats.
